Artificial Neural Networks book cover

The book and the app, together

The textbook explains every idea in plain English and draws it as a diagram. The ANN Studio Android app then lets you run the very same ideas as live Python โ€” both NumPy and PyTorch โ€” right on your phone or tablet.

The app is currently in closed testing on Google Play, and it's free to join โ€” here's how to get it.

Written for students, researchers, and self-learners who want AI and deep learning made simple, accessible, and academically rigorous.

How it works

1

Read

A clear, plain-English explanation of each idea โ€” no jargon walls.

2

See

Every concept drawn as a diagram so the math becomes a picture.

3

Run

Execute the real code live in the app and change it to see what happens.

Inside the app

Nothing here is a static picture โ€” change a setting and the network retrains in front of you, on the device.

ANN Studio training on the two-spirals dataset, showing the decision boundary and live accuracy.
TrainWatch the decision boundary bend around two interleaved spirals as the loss falls.
The live network view in ANN Studio, with weights drawn as coloured edges between neurons.
InspectEdge colour is the weight's sign, thickness its magnitude, node shade the activation.
The dataset picker in ANN Studio, showing synthetic shapes and real benchmark datasets.
Choose dataNine synthetic shapes plus real benchmarks โ€” Iris, Palmer Penguins, Wheat Seeds.
The reinforcement-learning lab in ANN Studio, showing a Q-learning agent on a gridworld.
ExperimentLabs go further โ€” a Q-learning agent filling in a value field as it finds the goal.

Get the ANN Studio app (Android)

The companion app is an Android app, currently in closed testing on Google Play โ€” completely free. Here's how to get on the tester list:

1.  Use an Android phone or tablet.

2.  Add your email using this short form โ€” enter the Google (Gmail) account you use on your Android device. Your email stays private; only the author sees it.

3.  Once you've been added, open the app on Google Play and install it.

Already added? Open ANN Studio on Google Play โ†’

Because it's a closed test, only approved testers can install it. Your email stays private โ€” only the author sees it โ€” and you'll get access shortly after being added.

Free โ€” with optional support

The book and the app are completely free, and they will stay that way. If they have helped you and you would like to support their continued development, any voluntary contribution is deeply appreciated.

It is never required โ€” everything here is fully usable without it.
